Yesterday I bought a new digital scale to begin this journey of a new me. Upon waking I tried to weigh in . I carefully read the directions, inserted the battery and when I stood on it I had numerals on top of numerals. After tapping it several times and seeing 127.2 lbs yet again I threw my arms in the air and moaned, "Oh great I would buy the broken scale!" At that point my significant other returned with a cup of coffee for me from the kitchen and said "let me see that". Pulling a plastic strip off the displayed the problem was revealed. The decal said 127.2 lbs. Silly me and that is what I should weigh. I shall hang the decal on the computer to remember to keep at it!
I am also going to make a chain of paperclips 40 clips long and as the scale goes down or up I will take or replace clips. Tomorrow is the first day of school with kids. I hope to start out right with a salad and a V-8 in tow and the promise to begin exercising daily. I will reduce the fats and carbs. but eat a well balanced diet with whole grains, fruits, veg, and lean proteins. The key is my portions must be small and my intake less than what I burn. I must watch the content of my snacks and continue to drink water which I love. Perhaps others will join me on this adventure.
I am 5 ft 6" and the literature that came with my scales says that my BMI at my present weight is about 28. I believe it could be higher. This needs to come down either way. I can't write my weight in here at this point as it seems so high. I am keeping track on a paper and as it comes down I think I will feel better about revealing the loss. I know I will feel better, move better, sleep better and wear clothing better, as well as cut the risk to many illnesses by losing this weight. Any who wish to encourage are welcome to respond and I am hopeful that positive thinking will prevail.
I was very thin until my late thirties and I did watch my diet. Raising my kids alone and centering so much of myself on them and school was part of the problem. I now have no excuse as they are grown, both doing grad work and now I should be taking care of me. I am going to use my membership at the health club and plan on buying a bike when finances permit. I will ski this winter, something I learned at age 43 when my kids were part of ski groups. I am a beginner and might always be but, that is o.k., the exercise makes winter fun and is good for the bod. I taught a friend last year and he now skis better than I. I already have a pupil lined up to learn this year.
I hope to write each night but if that does not happen I will attend several times per week.

Lulu,
ReplyDeleteI'm having a hard time writing down my weight right now too. Maybe after a couple of months we'll both feel better and able to share a little more with the world. Just writing about your goal and thinking about what you eat will really help -- I'm sure of it. Keep with it and stay strong!
